I was listening to the show last night, and just as Mike was getting into the rant about Saudi Arabia, the link cut out.
I go to listen to the podcast, and the Feb. 29th recording comes up on March 1st. What's going on?

As close as I can figure, the 1st hour of 03/01 was lost and was substituted with the 1st hour of 02/29.

Pity. I had been hoping to hear views regarding the Breitbart croaking.

Great minds think alike. Breitbart was a cancer in the body politic. Death is the only cure for those of his level of mendacity.

Speaking of cancer, take it easy on those cigars, Yuri. We need people like you around! I prefer red wine. I'm saving a really old bottle for The Pigman.

I didn't expect to feel grief at the time of Breitbart's departure. However, I do so now because of that lost first hour!

I complained to the Webmaster. She replied: "I'm really sorry - it was not the usual person doing it [referring to the podcast]."

Same thing happened today. The podcast is a repeat of Monday's show instead of last night's show. I'm really getting frustrated.

A computer malfunction is to blame for recent podcast problems. Team Malloy told me should be an announcement on the site, and/or an e-mail blast, when the problem is cleared. I suggest that, if possible, we all listen to the show live till then.

Bob Kincaid's website has been under attack by hackers. Either last month or the month before, his show was shut down for almost a week. Yesterday's attack wasn't so bad. The show aired but the site was down for a while. Ben Burch has been very busy helping Bob.

I noticed Mike's site was briefly down early this morning.

I found a three-minute clip of Mike's sendoff of Breitbart -- courtesy of breitbart.com. You can find the clip on Breitbart's site, if you're willing to wade through some muck. Put on some tall boots if you go there.

I'm tempted to tell breitbart.com: "Oh, what a terrible man that Malloy is to say those things. Uh, could you please post the entire first hour of his March 1 show? I have to know just how terrible he is!"

But hasn't Breitbart gone the way of the Norwegian Blue? Or will his devotees continue to tend to the web site as a shrine to fraud, vitriol, and lies?

Hello, Truthseekers:

I managed to record the program containing the hour that was missing from the podcast -- Mike's rant about Breitbart.

I would be happy to post it on my site (kaysreportcard.com), but need some help from you.

How can I compress an AIFF file? I have created MP3 versions of it, but the size doesn't seem to decrease significantly. I have a Mac.

If you can give me some help on this, I will post the "missing hour" ASAP, along with the next day's show that somehow didn't make it to the podcast, either.

Hello Kay,

That's a very kind offer and I would be pleased to take you up on it. (I like to pride myself on not having voluntarily missed a single minute of Mike's broadcasts as far back as the White Rose deep archives).

My suggestion would be to leave the material as (or convert it all to) MP3 format as that is what most podcast listeners are used to. The MP3 format is compressed sufficiently and people with massive audio libraries like Ben Burch over at White Rose store their files in that manner. You may be able to effect a modest size reduction by tweaking the sampling rate at the expense of sound quality. Given the unusual circumstances and the serendipitous nature of your offer, I don't think anyone would/should mind.

If you need help hosting the files then please let me know as I can spare the file space/bandwidth on my own server.

I gave a listen to the Breitbart segment. Very entertaining - thank you!

Your one-hour MP3 segment appears to be ~35MB - when full 3-hour podcast MP3s clock in at ~26.5MB. Prorated, that is ~4 times larger than usual. The inclusion of commercials accounts for about 50% of the increased size. The rest must be your higher-than-usual bit rate. No biggie; the sound quality is good, but you could probably accomplish a ~50% size reduction on the Report Card segments that you host by reducing your sampling rate from 96kbps/44KHz to the 32kbps/22KHz employed by the regular podcasts.
