The polls always seem to end up being 50/50, don't they?

They claimed Obama and McCain were tied right up until Obama won 365 to 173. How could polls have been 50/50?

I get the idea they grab half of their sample from rural areas and half from urban. The pollsters might consider this "fair" as if everyone in urban areas votes for Democrats, thus ignoring 30 years of right wing talk radio that people listen to while stuck in traffic.

It's not just some farmer up in the air conditioned cab of a combine slowly moving back and forth over a field that has Hannity warping his mind. Bumper to bumper traffic is equally capable of creating a hypnotic state.

Remember, it's hypnotic when you hear it but your mind is elsewhere and your brain records it without you necessarily noticing it. Advertisers have known this for years.

Even so, it seems they're skewing the poll results to reenforce the idea that the country is 50/50. But as Michael Moore pointed out, this is actually a 50/50/50 country because half of the country doesn't even vote.

This means election winners make up about 25% of the population. While Liberals encourage voter participation, conservatives engage in voter suppression. This is an admission on their part that while their ranks are already fully engaged and motivated, they are finite and even in the decline.

Yet the polls seem to be devoted to backing up the Washington Villager Talking Point that the country is evenly split.
