The next posts are about religious figures or Republicans working with fundamentalist organizations that lead anti-gay campaigns but are then found to be engaging in gay behavior themselves. I am posting these incidents not because they are gay, but because they condemned others for the same behavior they exhibit—in other words hypocrisy.

Washington Bureau
(Washington) Robert Traynham, the chief of staff and communications director for Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) has confirmed rumors circulating in Washington for several months that he is gay.
In a telephone interview with journalist Michael Rogers and reported by Rogers on two blog sites, PageOneQ.com and blogACTIVE.com, Traynham said he is an out gay man who completely supports the Senator.
When asked by Rogers how a gay man could speak for someone with Santorum's record of homophobia, Traynham said "Senator Santorum is a man of principle, he is a man who sticks up for what he believes in, I strongly do support Senator Santorum."
Rogers reports that when he further pressed Traynham, the aide ended the conversation.
Santorum, who is considering a run for President in 2008, has been one of the most outspoken supporters of a federal amendment to ban same-sex marriage and is a co-sponsor of the renewed attempt to pass the measure
"Isn't that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage?" asked Santorum last year during the Senate debate on the proposed amendment.
"If you support ... a mother and a father for every child, you are a hater. If you believe that men and women for 5,000 years have bonded together in marriage, you're a gay-basher. Marriage is hate. Marriage is a stain. Marriage is an evil thing. That's what we hear," said Santorum.
In a 2003 interview with The Associated Press after the Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws Santorum compared homosexuality with incest, polygamy and adultery (story).
"If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything."
Throughout it all Traynham has defended Santorum's position. Traynham is the highest-ranking black Republican staffer on Capitol Hill.
He has been with the Senator since 1997 and has served as Director of Communications for the Senate Republican Conference. He is President of the United States Senate Press Secretaries Association.
Prior to joining Santorum, Traynham served as Political Director for Black America’s Political Action Committee (BAMPAC), an organization whose mission is electing black conservatives to national office.
Before accepting his post at BAMPAC, Traynham worked for the Republican National Committee and was a Special Assistant for the 1996 Republican National Convention, held in San Diego.
At the age of 18, Traynham served as an intern at the White House, and soon became the youngest staff member ever to work full-time at the White House.

| Quote: | Child sex suspect once was in `ex-gay' ministry
Arrest brings group back in the spotlight
By Peter Franceschina
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
March 12 2006
The former Summit Christian School teacher arrested last weekend after admitting having sex with a teen boy was enrolled in a controversial "ex-gay" ministry whose adherents believe people can change their sexual preference through the power of Christ.
Love in Action International in Memphis, Tenn., is the oldest and best known of the ministries that try to counsel people away from homosexuality through spirituality. With a mission at the heart of one of the nation's culture wars, it has been praised by Christian conservatives and criticized by gay-rights advocates since its 1973 inception in California.
The ministry drew scrutiny last summer when a 16-year-old boy complained on his Web site about his parents forcing him into the center. Now, Love in Action is back in the spotlight after the March 3 arrest of former Summit Christian School teacher Chad Stoffel of Palm Springs.
The "ex-gay" movement is led by Exodus International in Orlando and its some 120 North American affiliates. The ministries promote a hotly disputed concept: that people aren't born homosexual, they're made that way, often by poor parenting or sexual abuse. Since being gay is not innate, proponents say, people can change and have healthy heterosexual relationships.
They are opposed by major health associations and gay-rights advocates, who say so-called "reparative" or "conversion" therapies cause conflict and despair in individuals.
Wade Richards, who became what he called a "poster boy" for the movement after he spent a year and half at Love in Action in the late '90s, finally reconciled himself to the fact that he is gay. He said the program taught him to communicate better with his parents, for which he is grateful, but he thinks it did him more harm than good because he was wracked with guilt and shame.
"It's kind of like an abusive relationship. You have this loving God. It's all based on love, but `if you don't do what I say, you're going to hell,'" he said.
Last summer, a 16-year-old Tennessee boy, Zach, told his conservative parents he was gay, according to his Web postings. They told him he would be going to Love in Action. Zach's posts about the situation to his Web log garnered national media attention and sparked gay-rights protests outside Love in Action.
"It's like boot camp," Zach wrote in his blog. "If I do come out straight, I'll be so mentally unstable and depressed it won't matter."
Stoffel, 29, a popular teacher and coach at Summit Christian School for more than five years, resigned in December, according to school officials.
It's not clear when Stoffel went to Love in Action, but on Feb. 1 a counselor there called a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office detective and told him Stoffel had confessed to molesting "numerous" boys in South Florida, according to Stoffel's arrest report. Stoffel also had reported himself to Florida's child-abuse hotline.
Stoffel is charged with four counts of sexual activity with a minor and four counts of battery on a child relating to a 16-year-old student from Wellington Christian School.
Sheriff's detectives are investigating Stoffel's admission that he had sex with one of his students, starting when the boy was 14, the arrest report says.
Gerard Wellman, the business administrator and a spokesman for Love in Action, said he couldn't confirm Stoffel was at the facility. He said the ministry reports illegal activity when it becomes known.
"We are bound by Tennessee state law to notify the appropriate authorities, and we abide by that policy without question," he said.
Wellman, like some other employees, is a graduate of the ministry's programs. "We don't think the words `homosexual' or `heterosexual' describe a person, they describe a behavior," he said. "What we strive to do is align their behavior with their beliefs by strengthening their faith in Christ."
He said it doesn't matter whether homosexuality is genetic or learned.
"We are responsible for what we do. We have no control over our temptations and urges. That is something we cannot control, but they can control what they do with that behavior," he said.
In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association declassified homosexuality as a mental illness, and the American Psychological Association says on its Web site, "The reality is that homosexuality is not an illness. It does not require treatment and is not changeable."
Earlier this month, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute issued a lengthy report called Youth in the Crosshairs, critical of the ministries for targeting parents and youth.
Exodus International President Alan Chambers issued a statement saying, "Our organization hears from thousands of teens and young adults each year who are desperate for information and resources beyond the one-sided `born-gay' message that saturates our culture... We are deeply concerned about these young men and women because so many of us, as former homosexuals, wish we had been aware of the emotional and physical devastation often found in gay life."
The debate arrives in Fort Lauderdale on May 6. Coral Ridge Ministries, led by the Rev. D. James Kennedy, is hosting Focus on the Family's touring "Love Won Out" conference, billed as "A dynamic one-day conference addressing, understanding and preventing homosexuality." Speakers include leaders from Focus on the Family and Exodus International. Gay-rights advocates are holding a counter-rally, "Love Welcomes All," at First Congregational Church of Fort Lauderdale. One speaker will be Wayne Besen, author of Anything but Straight: Unmasking the Scandals and Lies Behind the Ex-Gay Myth.
Besen is among those who say the programs set people up for failure down the road.
"What should be the most beautiful thing in your life, sexual attraction and love, is turned into one of the most horrible, hated things," he said. "This is something that tears your heart apart and creates tragedies, everything from addictions to suicide."
Peterson Toscano, who puts on a one-man play about his experience in the ministries called Doin' Time in the Homo No Mo Halfway House, also went through Love in Action. "Not knowing how psychology works, they are creating a great lot of turmoil for people," he said.

The purpose of this entire thread is to do research of the type of sex crimes committed in fundamentalist churches in America. This is relevant since the right-wing Christian community is claiming the right to establish the moral standards in secular society. So looking at how "Christians" behave in their own churches will give up an idea of how those values are exemplified.
The next posts will be about your common everyday rape and sodomy of children by church ministers and members. Here is a sample.

An Elizabethtown couple is suing a Glendale church after their daughter was sexually abused by the church's youth minister. A civil suit was filed May 25 in Hardin Circuit Court against Sand Springs Church of God, its pastor, Charles Duke, and Duke's son, Nicky. The suit claims that Glendale resident Nicky Duke, 40, molested the couple's then 14-year-old daughter in early 2003. Nicky Duke was Sand Springs Church of God's youth leader at the time. |

Chattooga Pastor Arrested for Molesting Girl

A Chattooga County, Georgia man who was a pastor and foster parent is in jail today on charges of molesting a thirteen year old foster child. Pastor William Myles Phillips was arrested Sunday and charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation and sodomy.
This after turning himself in to police and confessing to the crimes.
His three foster children have been removed from him home. A representative of Stepping Stone foster care agency says the girl is confused and upset. Stepping Stone only deals with children who have behavioral or emotional problems. Right now, the agency's main priority is to ensure that the girl doesn't develop any more problems as a result of this case.
Neighbors say he's only lived in his Summerville home on second avenue for a few months.
But according to police, for the last five months he has been molesting a thirteen year old girl.
Resident Carrie Patty told us she was shocked a pastor would do this and said she would change pastors or churches if something like this happened in her place of worship.
But others don't have much to say. The pastor was well-liked in the community and served on several boards...

Maurice Jackson, pastor of the New Generation Church in Northeast Columbus, was arrested Friday and charged with gross sexual imposition, and corrupting a minor.
The charges stem from allegations that he sexually molested a little girl. The victim's mother says that Jackson repeatedly molested her daughter over a four-year period, starting when she was 7-years-old.
The girl claims that the molesting occurred at a mutual friend's house, and also said that Jackson threatened if she told anybody he would kill her mother.
The New Generation Church is standing behind Maurice Jackson, calling the charges against him a "conspiracy" and "the work of the devil."
Jackson is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail. |

We see the same pattern of fundatmentalists churches behaving as cult organizations and acting as cover for pedophiles on nearly the same scale as the Catholic church. I say "nearly" because the Catholic church is more organized and centralized whereas the fundatmentalists churches are decentralized and independant, therefore, the pattern of abuse is more difficult to recognized.
But Rick Santorum blames the "liberals" for the Catholic pedophile scandals as if the fundatmentalists churches have no such problem of pedophiles. The victims in the Catholic churches tend to be boys, and in the fundatmentalists churches the victims tend to be girls.

The pastor of a small church in Rockdale County has been arrested and charged with statutory rape and aggravated child molestation involving a 7-year-old girl, and investigators say more charges, involving additional children, are possible.
The suspect, 54-year-old Samuel Rutledge, is the pastor of First Discipleship Church in Conyers. He was arrested Friday, June 3, and is being held in the Newton County Jail.
The girl Rutledge is accused of assaulting is a member of his own family.
The girl's mother tells 11Alive News, "I had no idea," but now believes Rutledge assaulted the girl over a period of several weeks, sometimes in front of the girl's 6-year-old brother.
One of Rutledge's three grown children, a step-daughter, has since come forward saying she, too, is his victim.
Twrnia Beck, now 32-years-old, told 11Alive News she felt compelled to speak out after hearing the charges.
“My stepfather, he sexually, mentally and physically abused me from the age of two to 16,” she said.
“I've always been scared of him. But when this happened to my [family member], this baby is 7-years-old, when it happened to her, it's like that scared little girl came out of me,” she added. “And that's what gave me the motivation to go up there and let the congregation know, because he's working with youth, around little girls again.”
The girl's mother accompanied Beck to the church to confront Rutledge during a Sunday morning service.
"After my daughter had gotten out of the hospital that night," the mother said, "he had the audacity to go to church that Sunday and preach. We opened the church doors and we called him out, in front of everybody, and we told everybody what he had did. And when we told everybody what he had did, then no one believed us. Didn't no one believe us."
The girl's mother and Twrnia Beck now believe Rutledge assaulted other family members over the years, and they worry about the children in his church.
The mother said her daughter was initially afraid to tell her about what the daughter now says Rutledge did to her.
“She made me put my hand on the Bible and say, ‘You promise you won't tell?’ So, I'm thinking that's what he used to do to her when he was touching her,” the mother said.
The mother says she tape-recorded Rutledge confessing he had molested his step-daughter, Twrnia Beck, but denying he ever molested the 7-year-old girl.
"He confessed it to me on the phone what he did," the mother told 11Alive News. "I said, 'Why did you do that?' He said, 'Because I was young, I was dumb, I was naive and I was "in the world," and I had a childish mind.' He said, 'But now I'm a pastor,'" and would never harm the mother's daughter.
The mother said she replied, "Well, you confessed to me that you did this to [Twrnia], so what would make me think that you wouldn't do this to my daughter?"
“He used to hit on me, beat me with his fists, sticks, everything else," Beck said. "Death is too good for him. I want him to see what I went through. I'm tired of hurting. I'm tired of crying,” Beck said. "I've been in pain since I was two years old, and I am still going through pain."

The report notes A former pastor was sentenced to 35 years in prison for raping a young girl who said the man had told her that God approved of their sexual relationship. A jury convicted Donald Lee Flanery, 46, on Friday, and recommended the sentence that Circuit Judge Harold Irwin imposed later that day in Randolph County, in northeastern Arkansas. Prosecutors said Flanery, of Ravenden Springs, assaulted the Maynard girl nearly three dozen times, beginning when she was 11 and ending when she was 13. At the time of the incidents, Flanery was the pastor of a non-denominational church known as The Family of Christ. Documents filed in the case said the assaults occurred at the church, his residence behind the church and at a new home he was building. The girl told investigators that Flanery had told her that God approved of a man having more than one woman, despite her age. |

In honor of the Texas Fundatmentalist Christian pervert of the day this Sunday morning is the Rev. Castle Jr. caught in a vehicle with a 12 yr. girl--he wasn't driving (...the car).

Star-Telegram/April 5, 2005
By Susan Schrock and Caren M. Penland
http://www.rickross.com/reference/clergy/clergy396.html
A Grand Prairie pastor faces seven charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child after a 12-year-old girl made an outcry to her mother, police said.
Jerry N. Castle Jr., 25, was arrested Thursday night outside Faith Tabernacle Church, where he had been pastor more than two years. Castle is being held in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas. Bail was set at $350,000.
Early Sunday morning, police investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle said they found Castle kissing a 12-year-old girl inside a parked car a few blocks from her parents' home in north Arlington. Castle was arrested on a parking violation and the girl was released to her parents, who attend the Pentecostal church, police said.
Police began investigating Castle after the girl told her mother that she and the pastor had engaged in sexual activity between March 14 and 18, said Detective John Brimmer, a Grand Prairie police spokesman. The girl told police that the encounters happened at the pastor's home while his wife was away, Brimmer said.
"She was adamant that it was consensual. As you know, 12-year-olds cannot legally give consent," Brimmer said.
The Star-Telegram is not identifying the girl because of her age.
Castle was arrested outside the single-story brick church Thursday night shortly after he arrived at a special meeting to announce his resignation, church member Audrey Fredregill said.
Fredregill's husband, Boyd, said Castle had called him the day before and confided in him about the girl's allegations.
"Brother Jerry did admit that some of this was true but some of it wasn't," Fredregill said. "He was resigning to save the church."
The Fredregills said the small congregation had recently discussed concerns with the girl's mother about the child's apparent crush on the pastor, who is married and has a young son.
"She was hanging all over him at every church service," said the Fredregills' daughter Cordelia Berry.
Berry said Castle has worked hard the past couple years to improve the church facilities and the lives of its congregation, which has about 50 members. News of his arrest and his resignation are difficult to bear, she said.
"We love him and we are standing by him," Berry said, as she and her mother stood crying Friday outside the church. "God forgives and forgets, and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't do the same." |

Man awaits sentencing on plea to fraud charges
By Onell R. Soto
June 11, 2005
A former Ramona pastor awaiting sentencing for selling dangerous toys that he should have destroyed violated the conditions of his release by having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl, a federal judge has ruled.
Matthew Lotze, 37, resigned two weeks ago as head of Neighborhood Baptist Church, a church elder told U.S. Magistrate Judge Nita Stormes on Thursday.
Lotze, who was free on a $10,000 bond pending sentencing, was jailed June 3 after another judge heard of the molestation claims, prosecutor Orlando Gutierrez said.
One of the conditions of Lotze's Sept. 30 release was that he not break the law, but prosecutors say he did just that with the 17-year-old girl, who told investigators she had sex with Lotze on May 12.
A church elder told the judge that Lotze admitted engaging in oral sex with the girl.
After listening to the testimony, Stormes found that there was reason to believe Lotze had violated statutory-rape and molestation laws.
A sheriff's detective said he began investigating the case after the girl's father called authorities.
"There is a possibility there was more than one victim," Detective William Santiago said.
A prosecutor at the District Attorney's Office in El Cajon, which handles crimes in Ramona including molestation, said he has not received the case.
Lotze pleaded guilty March 18 to seven fraud charges.
He said he was hired in 2001 by Chevron Corp. to destroy about 600,000 toy cars designed to be sold at gas stations. The toys were modeled on cartoon cars in the company's ads but had small parts on which children could choke, prosecutors said.
He told the company he destroyed the toys and provided certificates of destruction, photos and a video showing the cars being destroyed, the company said.
When he pleaded guilty, Lotze admitted he didn't destroy the toys, and instead sold them to wholesalers in California, Iowa and Minnesota.

Faith Community Church Youth Pastor Storer arrested for rape.

Brother Bradley Storer
(Hamilton County) - A former Noblesville youth pastor is in trouble with the law. The Hamilton county prosecutor charged him with sexual misconduct with a minor.
For about three years, Bradley Storer worked with children at Faith Community Church. Now he's accused of hurting the kids he was supposed to protect.
“We are alleging for a time while he was youth pastor for a church he was engaged illicit sexual activity with a young lady there who was around fifteen years of age,” said Sonia Leerkamp, Hamilton County prosecutor. Storer faces five counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Prosecutors say Storer started the sexual relationship with the girl while she was a freshman in high school. It lasted for two years from 1999 to 2001. The victim is now in college.
The pastor of Faith Community Church would not speak to 24 Hour News 8 about the case, but Leerkamp says the pastor put steps in place to curb interaction between Storer and his victim.
“He thought that would be sufficient for nothing to further happen but that in fact additional items did come to him and he immediately terminated this individual,” said Leerkamp.
The alleged abuse happened several years ago, but the case opened right before Christmas when Michelle Storer's attorney called police. Michelle Storer is Bradley Storer’s estranged wife. He was married to her at the time of the alleged relationship with the teenager.
“The bottom line is that I am grateful to know the truth after all these years and to have support of God, family and friends,” said Michelle Storer, who added that she knows the victim.
Storer didn't have an office at the church, but he did have one at the Victorian house. According to court documents, Storer told police that was where a lot of the physical contact happened.
“It has been a shocking nightmare for my children and me to learn about my husband's double life and alleged crimes,” said Michelle Storer. “I pray for this girl, his victim, that she will find the healing that she needs. I pray for my husband that he will make amends for his actions and he will find the healing he needs as well.” |

Community Christian Church Rev. Shelburne arrested for rape.

SALISBURY -- A church minister and former private school employee continues to be investigated on charges of sex abuse of a minor, police said Wednesday.
Julian "Jay" Benson Shelburne Jr., 40, of Salisbury was charged Monday with third- and fourth-degree sex offenses, perverted practice, sex abuse of a minor and second-degree assault, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.
Police said Shelburne is suspected of committing the offenses against a minor during a four-month span beginning in January and ending in April. Police did not indicate the age of the female victim.
Wicomico County District Court charging documents for Shelburne's case were not made available Wednesday.
Salisbury School officials confirmed that Shelburne had worked part-time at the Hobbs Road School until recently. A few days after the arrest, some people who knew Shelburne were surprised about the accusations.
An acquaintance of Shelburne, who asked not to be identified, said allegations seemed out of character for the man who had served as pastor of Community Christian Church on Nanticoke Road.
"It just doesn't sound like him," she said. "I hope it's not true."
Ken Dasher, who serves as an elder for Community Christian Church, said he was not going to comment on Shelburne's charges until after conferring with other church members.
Shelburne was being held at Wicomico County Detention Center on $50,000 bond Wednesday. |

Texas Longview Baptist Academy Rev. Hirner rapes 7 girls that were between the ages of eight and 12!!!

By ALEXA DUKE

The Daily News
http://www.hendersondailynews.com/articles/2005/04/15/news/02jurythu.txt
Calling his alleged molestation of seven girls "bad choices," Russell Thomas Hirner turned his fate over to 12 jurors in a Rusk County courtroom at approximately 11 a.m. today.
Hirner, 43, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and five counts of indecency with a child stemming from alleged inappropriate contact with young girls over a period of several years and ending in 2001 when he began taking an anti-depressant.
Hirner, former principal at the Longview Baptist Academy and teacher at the Longview Christian Academy, testified Wednesday that he fondled the girls in an inappropriate manner but never penetrated any of them and received no sexual gratification from any of his actions. He said he had suffered several years of physical problems, including erectile dysfunction, and he was lonely and depressed.
"I tried to have relations with my wife and couldn't," he told the jury. "We didn't talk about it. Back then, every other commercial wasn't like it is now - people were making jokes about what was happening to me. I was so lonely. In the midst of all those people, I was a stranger in my own house."
Hirner and his wife were very active in the Longview Baptist Temple, the church which is affiliated with both schools where Hirner worked. All of the girls involved in the case were children of fellow church members and were left in Hirner's care as their fathers worked two or three jobs to make ends meet.
The charges came to light when one of the girls' mother read diary entries in February 2004. Hirner was, by then, working for Accelerated Christian Education, a firm that consults with churches to help start Christian schools. He testified that as soon as he knew that one of the girls had said anything he immediately turned himself in to the Longview police, who transferred him to the Rusk County jail when it was determined the incidents in question had occurred at Hirner's Kilgore mobile home.
While Hirner confessed to fondling the girls in his Rusk County home, the older sister of one of those victims has since come forward claiming that Hirner molested her approximately 10 years ago while he was still living in Longview. He now faces an additional 15 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Gregg County.
All of the victims were between the ages of eight and 12 when the alleged offenses occurred. At least three victims testified that Hirner did more than fondle them, but Hirner said he never did more than rub on the girls. When asked if he was calling the girls liars, Hirner said their accounts were perhaps exaggerated and possibly the girls were mistaken or confused, but he would not call them liars.
Hirner's wife of 21 years, Karen, told jurors she met Hirner when she was 14 and he was 18 at a Christian summer camp. They became romantically involved about six months later, she said, and married when she was 17. The couple will seek marriage counseling when Hirner is released and try to salvage their marriage, she testified.
Hirner said he realized his behavior was wrong after he began taking Zoloft to treat his depression. He told jurors that he called two of the girls involved to a tree in front of his house and told them the behavior had to stop and prayed with them. He testified that he never told them not to tell anyone.
"I remember praying and saying this would ruin my ministry and we've got to make it right," Hirner said in a video taped interview with a Longview detective. "And we did - it stopped."
When asked why he didn't seek help, Hirner said, "When something like this happens, where are you going to go? If you cheat on your wife with a woman, you can go to a preacher, get help. But when you do something like this, they don't help you - they just lock you up. ... I am not a monster. I tried so often to tell somebody to make it stop. It's been so many years now I thought it would go away."
The Texas Penal Code classifies the sexual assault of a person under the age of 14 as aggravated. Aggravated sexual assault is a first-degree felony, which is punishable by up to life in prison, and each second-degree felony carries a possible 20-year prison sentence. |

A one-time Lebanon minister will spend six months behind bars after pleading guilty to two counts of statutory rape in Williamson County Criminal Court, officials say.
Nathaniel Dobson, former senior pastor at Lebanon’s New Shiloh Baptist Church, was charged in March 2004 after allegedly admitting to Franklin Police Department investigators he engaged in sex with two girls ages 14 and 15.
On Tuesday Dobson pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory rape and was sentenced to one year on each charge. The two sentences are to run concurrently, according to court clerks.
As part of his plea agreement, Dobson must spend six months behind bars and will then be placed on supervised probation for the remainder of his sentence.
In addition, a judge ordered Dobson to undergo a “psychosexual evaluation,” banned him from any further contact with the victims, ordered him to stay away from minors without other adults present and required he register as a sex offender with the state.
Dobson – who will do his time in the Williamson County Workhouse – is to report to begin serving his sentence on June 15, court clerks said.
At the time of his arrest, authorities said the two victims voluntarily came forward to make the allegation against Dobson, claiming they both had sexual contact with him at a Williamson County motel.
Authorities said Dobson later gave a statement admitting the encounter.
Dobson was briefly considered a fugitive from justice by Franklin authorities when he failed to surrender after being indicted on the charges. He remained in jail under $50,000 after turning himself in, officials said.
Dobson spent 19 years as senior pastor at New Shiloh Baptist prior to his arrest. Church leaders have declined to discuss the case. |

The leader of a polygamous sect has been charged with child sex abuse in connection with an arranged marriage between a teenage girl and a 28-year-old man who was already married.
Warren Jeffs, a self-proclaimed prophet and despotic president of the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, faces up to two years in jail if convicted.

Although Jeffs, 49, was charged with sexual conduct with a minor, he did not have sex with the 16-year-old girl but arranged her marriage to the man, said prosecutors.
Polygamy is illegal in America but police believe that it is practised by tens of thousands of Mormon fundamentalists across the West.
Jeffs's sect, which split from mainstream Mormonism after the latter renounced polygamy, is intensely secretive. Most of its members live in closed, remote communities in Utah and Arizona.
Recently, the group has been building new headquarters on a ranch in Eldorado, Texas, raising fears that Jeffs, who has not been seen in public for more than a year, is planning a final armed confrontation with the authorities similar to the defiance of David Koresh and his followers in Waco, Texas.
Jeffs has already been named as a defendant in two civil lawsuits in Utah - one by a nephew accusing him of sodomy and another, by a former church member, accusing him of covering up child sex abuse.
Although the authorities have previously been unable to enter the sect's land to search for Jeffs, police will be able to do so now that he has been charged with criminal offences.
Mark Shurtleff, Utah's attorney general, said his office had attempted for two weeks to serve Jeffs with a court order freezing more than $100 million in sect land and business assets.
"This sends a message that Warren Jeffs is not above the law," said Mr Shurtleff.
"He's going to be held accountable for the charges. That's the bottom line." |

Youth minister charged with child molestation

The Kansas City Star
A youth minister for a south Kansas City church was charged today with sexually assaulting a church member’s underage daughter.
Phillip Boleyn, 25, of Raymore, was charged with four counts of statutory rape, three counts of child molestation and two counts of statutory sodomy. Authorities allege the relationship spanned from January 2003 to May 2005.
Boleyn was a youth minister with Christian Life Church, 7005 E. 102nd St. Officials at the church could not be reached for comment.
According to court documents, the victim told Kansas City police that Boleyn began kissing and fondling her when she was in her early teens. Over the next two years or so, the contact progressed to oral sex and then vaginal sex.
The victim told police that they had sex at her house, in his office, in the crawl space at church and in the women’s restroom, the documents said. She told police that Boleyn had said he wanted to marry her when she turned 18.
According to court documents, the victim’s parents and church staff became suspicious because the victim and Boleyn talked on the phone frequently and because he was so much older. The victim told her mother about the relationship, and Boleyn told the victim’s father.
Police on Tuesday searched Boleyn’s home and took several items, including computer components. According to court documents, the victim told police that Boleyn had nude pictures of her on a computer disk.
Authorities are continuing to investigate.

Youth pastor arrested on molest report

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City youth pastor is suspected of molesting two local boys and at least two other victims outside the county's jurisdiction, authorities said Tuesday.
Christopher Fouts, 26, of Redwood City, was arrested at his home on Friday, after someone reported the molestation of one of the teens, triggering an investigation by child protective services, said Redwood City Police Detective Jeff Price.
Fouts was arrested on suspicion of five felony counts of molestation. He has since been released on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 10.
Authorities believe Fouts met two of his alleged victims, ages 13 and 14, while he was working as the director of youth ministries at Peninsula Covenant Church.
Fouts was fired on June 26, immediately after church officials learned he was being investigated, said John Seybert, director of operations for the church. He had been with the church for three years.
Price said Fouts admitted to being involved with the boys and was very forthcoming with information, leading him to believe there are no other outstanding victims. The molestations are alleged to have taken place off church property. "I brought him in for an interview, and he was pretty straightforward," Price said.
San Mateo County Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti said the alleged crimes occurred between January and June during church activities. Guidotti said authorities know of five victims altogether but that the law does not allow prosecutors to file charges in the other cases because they occurred outside the county. |

CALDWELL, OH -- News 9 has learned that a Noble County man has been charged with four counts of sexual battery, two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of gross sexual imposition.
According to the Noble County Sheriff's Office, Lower Salem resident James Coyle was arrested recently on the charges.
Sheriff Landon Smith says the arrest happened after three young boys between the ages of 12 and 15 accused the 60-year-old of improper sexual contact.
The sheriff says Coyle knew the three boys because he was their Sunday school teacher at the Church of Christ in Caldwell. Coyle was a leader in the church and hadn't faced any criminal charges in the past.
Smith also says Coyle used to work with teenagers on a daily basis when he was a teacher at the Swiss Hills Vocational School in Monroe County.
Coyle has been retired from the school for a number of years. He is out of jail on $10,000 bond.
The Noble County Sheriff also says that after Coyle's initial arrest, another Sunday school student came forward. That makes four alleged victims. The fourth case will go to the grand jury in January.
The Pastor of the Church of Christ declined to comment. |

THOMASVILLE — A church youth minister charged with child molestation entered a guilty plea Wednesday to statutory rape.
Roderick Suber, 25, youth minister at Faith Horizons Ministries at the time of his September 2004 arrest, wore a tie with the Lord’s Prayer on it to Thomas County Superior Court Wednesday.
Suber was in court for a pretrial proceeding when he entered the plea.
Judge Harry Jay Altman set sentencing for 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, at the Jail-Justice Center courtroom.
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Department received information from a school counselor in late September 2004, that a student, 16, had a sexual relationship with a youth pastor. |
