Wilson was elected in 1916 on the slogan"He kept us out of war", and promptly found ways to finance the Entente to such a degree that the U.S. was locked into an alliance against Germany.After WWI, the left in this country was eliminated,(few people realise how strong the Socialists were before WWI), leaving only the Communists as advocates of civil liberties for minorities, agitating for labor law reform, calling for an end to the class divisions based upon wealth,(a division which now is again far beyond any other modern society).FDR did the minimum necessary to prevent a revolution, all the while gearing the country up for yet another war, again, only the Communists were acive in supporting the Spanish Republic, only the Communists were agitating against fascism.With the end of WWII, the military again became paramount, the "cold war" being the premise under which we were all made potential targets of nuclear weapons, a threat which is worse today than then, with proliferation giving the bomb to Gilbert and Sullivan comic states of dubious stability and motives.The fix is in, has been for some time, any state willing to continue policies which lead to millions of dead is suspect.The government? Vote away, suckers! The government is a side show meant to detract the rubes and siphon tax dollars to those already rolling in wealth.So long as the elites frame the "important" questions, they need not care what the mob answers.
